Wattar وُتْر
Synopsis
Wattar وُتْر is a short dance film exploring the invisible dialogue between humans and the spaces they inhabit. It reflects on how our presence transforms places, and how time, in turn, reshapes our memories. Through abstract movement and poetic imagery, the film contemplates human existence and our continuous search for meaning and happiness in a world that is always shifting.
Error 404 Dance Found Collective is led by movement researchers and choreographers Mario and Zaria Rajha, Canadian BIPOC artists based in Mohkinstsis, Treaty 7 lands. Graduates of the Higher Institute for Dramatic Arts with a Bachelor’s degree in Dance, they bring a rich blend of styles to their work, including contact improvisation, ballet, contemporary dance, physical theatre, and folklore dance.
From 2022 to 2025, they co-created dance works supported by organizations such as Dancers’ Studio West, The GRAND, Ritual Arts Endeavour, Arts commons and Fluid Festival. In 2024, they were also commissioned to choreograph a new work for the University of Calgary as part of the Transform Festival, further expanding their presence in the academic and professional dance landscape.
Error 404 Dance Found Collective is also deeply engaged in community outreach. They have led numerous movement workshops that bring dancers and non-dancers together in shared spaces of exploration and expression. They have collaborated with theatre organizations such as Kawalease Act to deliver inclusive and accessible movement classes.
Their pinnacle achievement to date is the self-produced, large-scale show titled ERROR 404: Sign Not Found, presented by The GRAND in June 2023 in Calgary, AB—marking the official launch of the collective. Since then, they have been crafting a unique artistic journey, blending dramatic elements with humor. Their choreography delves into the profound exploration of human existence, rooted in the philosophy of living, embracing the unexpected, and finding excitement in imperfection. Inspired by life experiences, they believe that every error is a creative offer.
In 2024, they were commissioned to choreograph a new work for the University of Calgary as part of the Transform Festival, further expanding their presence in the academic and professional dance landscape.
In Calgary, in 2022, 2023, 2024, and 2025 they co-created dance works supported by various arts organizations such as Dancers’ Studio West, The GRAND, and Ritual Arts Endeavour. Over two consecutive years, they were commissioned to produce original pieces for Fluid Festival, prominent Canadian dance and movement festival.
